Toggenberg

This is my Brother's boat - Toggenberg. He spends his weekends there to give him a break from caring for Mum. He built it himself from sheet steel outside the farmhouse. The launch was a special occasion when Mum broke a bottle of champagne over the bows - like the queen!

They have it all kitted out so that Mum can visit, with a wheelchair lift and a special platform so that she can see out of the windows as they travel. A trip to France is the next big voyage - they intend to take Mum with them! So I could be travelling to visit in the future :)

The name is from Toggenberg goats. He used to have a big flock (herd?) of them at the farm producing goats cheese.
Now there are just sheep - I prefer goats :)

Here is a Toggenberg goat - isn't he gorgeous?

Ashes

Yesterday we scattered my Dad's ashes by this lighthouse.

It was a quiet and special moment.

Yes - she's gone

DaVinci has gone and so has Leonardo. I am almost sure they have joined a wild flock. I think maybe they were both males and have gone off in search of love.

Whatever has happened I wouldn't put them back in the net - they are only truly doves as they soar high in the sky.

No amount of safety is worth losing freedom.

I think there's a parable there - for sure!

Missing :(

Yes - it's confirmed, DaVinci is missing :(

Here she is in flight.

I just hope she may have joined another flock somewhere :(

Three!

Well, on the very day I decide to start a blog about my doves, I am worrying about them!

I got four young doves in August 2009 - Albert, Einstein, Leonardo and DaVinci.

Jennifer (A friend) joined them during the 'homing' weeks (She kept getting her head stuck in the net - so I let her in :)

But, all day today, I have only seen 3+ Jennifer. DaVinci is missing.

Oh dear :(

This is a photo of Albert all fluffed up in the snow.

Doves dogs and daydreams

I love to chat about this and that, to take photos of my doves and dogs, to paint pictures and philosophise about all things.
I hope you will enjoy sharing my rambles :)

So - introducing Einstein, one of my four doves ...

Gavin and Callum, my two aging bu
t lovely Cavalier Spaniels.

And 'wave' my current favourite painting :)
